Located in the Department of Community Mental Health – White Plains: Under the general direction of the Commissioner of Mental Health Services, the incumbent of this position performs executive secretarial tasks; relieving the Commissioner of administrative detail by receiving and handling inquiries, complaints, and requests related to departmental activities from other County department heads, local and state officials, the press, and the general public. The incumbent is appointed by the Commissioner and serves at the discretion of the Commissioner. The incumbent also serves as office manager for the department, ensuring orderly and efficient administrative and clerical support. Supervision is exercised over clerical and secretarial support staff. Does related work as required.
Desired
Graduation from high school or an equivalency diploma and either: (a) seven years of administrative, office management and/or secretarial experience, which must have included two years using word processing equipment; or (b) satisfactory completion of 30 credits* at a recognized college or business school may be substituted for each year of the above stated experience.

(1) The number of years of experience required in the minimum qualifications is based upon the presumption of full-time employment. Part-time experience will be prorated based on a 35 hour workweek. (2) Verified and documented volunteer (unpaid) experience will only be credited when specifically allowed by the job description or examination announcement.
Special Notes
Education beyond the secondary level must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education.
Salary: $73,775 - $91,760
