Located in the Department of Social Services – White Plains: Under general supervision, an incumbent of this class is responsible for performing various detailed automated, clerical and/or administrative support functions associated with the control, scheduling, inspecting and auditing of all input Information Systems work, performing quality control for distribution of computer generated output, maintaining various control records used in the preparation of recurring reports using prescribed methods and procedures, and maintaining user department contacts concerning production schedules. Incumbents may be assigned to any one of three work shifts. This class differs from Control Clerk in the complexity of tasks performed requiring a greater degree of independent judgment, and the supervisory responsibilities assigned. Supervision may be exercised over a number of Control and Information Systems Clerks. Does related work as required.
Required
Either: (a) Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or a related field; or (b) a Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience where the primary function of the position was performing technical duties in the operation, quality control, or batch processing of large computer jobs on an automated system.
Substitutions
Satisfactory completion of 12 credits in information technology or computer science from an institution recognized or accredited by the Board of Regents of the New York State Department of Education as a post-secondary, degree-granting institution may be substituted for the year of specialized experience.

(1) The operation of a home computer or work involving word processing is not considered as work experience for this title. (2) Experience as a Data Processing Clerk or Tape Librarian for a medium to large-scale main frame computer system may be substituted on a year for year basis for the experience defined in (a). Located in the Westchester Community College – Valhalla: Under general supervision, an incumbent of this class performs a variety of journey-level building maintenance and repair work, including inspecting buildings to determine the need for repair; planning and laying out jobs, and estimating the cost of materials and staffing requirements for work to be performed. This class differs from other Senior Maintenance Mechanic I positions in that work assignments may cross into all aspects involved in the maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment and grounds, rather than in one specific trade or maintenance skill. Incumbents work on an independent basis, but in most instances, work assignments result from written or oral instructions. The incumbent may work on their own, as part of a crew or as lead worker on specific projects and may supervise a number of lower level maintenance and labor employees. The journeyman is proficient in the skills and practices of a variety of trades, with full knowledge of the principles, tools and techniques used. The journeyman has responsibility for determining methods, techniques, materials, and/or devices best suited to complete projects. Work is performed with little or no check during progress; however, the supervisor may check overall work to ensure that trade standards are met upon completion. Does related work as required.
Required
Either: (a) possession of a high school or equivalency diploma and four years of experience in trade; or (b) graduation from a two year post high school or trade school course and two years of experience in a trade; or (c) seven years of work experience, five of which must have been a trade; or (d) a satisfactory equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a), (b), and (c).
Definition
(1) Experience in a trade does not include home renovation projects by a homeowner for their home or others. General Contracting experience may be accepted, but candidates must demonstrate hands-on experience within a trade. (2) Repair includes a variety of trades including but is not limited to plumbing, electricity, masonry, carpentry and construction.

(1) Possession of a valid New York State Driver’s License appropriate to the type of equipment operated. Located in the Department of Environmental Facilities – Valhalla: Under general supervision, the incumbent is responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance and repair of a Type IB (more than 2.5 million gallons per day [mgd]) and IIB (less than 2.5 mgd) Water Treatment Plant containing facilities for chlorination, corrosion control, Ultra-Violet (UV) Treatment, as well as distribution. An incumbent plans and gives direct supervision to a wide variety of operation, maintenance and repair staff.
