Located in the Department of Public Works and Transportation – White Plains: Under general supervision, an incumbent of this class assists in coordinating the activities of road maintenance personnel engaged in road paving, pavement markings, drainage projects and highway safety activities. Work involves leading work crew(s) and participating in the maintenance and repair of County roads to ensure that work performed is in conformance with construction standards and within established departmental guidelines and standards. This class differs from the Chief Road Maintainer I in that an incumbent functions as a lead worker; ensuring that equipment needed to perform various jobs is made available to road maintenance crews; ordering materials, and in estimating costs for unscheduled and scheduled jobs and/or projects. Incumbents in the Chief Road Maintainer II classification are also required to possess a CDL-A license issued by New York State and assigned more complex road maintenance jobs on a regular basis. Does related work as required.
Required
Possession of a CDL-A driver license issued by the U.S. state of residence, with required endorsements, and four years of construction, demolition, general maintenance, or motor equipment operation experience, which included two years of experience performing road maintenance work that involved laying and/or patching asphalt or concrete pavements and gutters; repairing potholes; repairing culverts, catch basins, storm drains and manholes, and snow and ice control.
Substitutions
Possession of a high school or equivalency diploma may be substituted for one year of the general experience.
Special Requirements
(1) Must possess and maintain a CDL-A license issued by the U.S. state of residence, with required endorsements, while in the title. Under New York State law applicants for a CDL must be 21 years old. (2) Depending on work assignment, must meet standards of OSHA regulation(s) 1910.132-140 - Personal Protective Equipment, and will be required to meet Federal, State and local standards with respect to health and safety.

Located in the Department of Environmental Facilities – Various Locations: Under supervision, incumbents perform a variety of recurring light and heavy manual laboring activities in grounds maintenance, building maintenance or at other County facilities. Work involves the performance of unskilled or semiskilled manual tasks that are readily learned on the job. Located in the Department of Environmental Facilities – Various Locations: Under general supervision, an incumbent of this class performs a wide variety of journeyman level electrical installation, repair and maintenance work. The journeyman is fully proficient in the skills and practices of the trade, with full knowledge of the principles, tools and techniques required to complete projects independently and in an efficient and safe manner. Responsibilities involve planning and laying out jobs, determining the methods, techniques, materials, and devices best suited to perform projects, and maintaining necessary supplies to perform all job duties as assigned by work order or by oral instruction. Work also involves performing regularly scheduled inspections and taking corrective action as needed; maintaining an inventory of equipment and supplies; preparing purchase requisitions in accordance with departmental policies, and keeping detailed records of all work and inspections performed. While considerable leeway is given for independent action, job duties are performed in accordance with the National Electrical Code, OSHA standards and departmental protocols. Further, all work is monitored for compliance with trade standards by a Senior Maintenance Mechanic III (Electrician) who serves as a departmental “Master Electrician”, and technical advisor. This class is distinguished from the higher level by the requirement for licensure, as well as the complexity of assignment. Does related work as required.
Required
Either: (a) graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and four years of experience performing electrical work; or (b) four years full-time experience under a journeyman electrician that provided training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program.
