Located in the Department of Health - Mount Kisco: Under supervision, an incumbent of this class performs a wide variety of tasks in providing clerical support and in acting as an office assistant for a number of administrative or professional staff. Independent action is exercised when routine procedures or clearly defined policies are involved. This position requires a full range of keyboarding skills in the operation of either a word processor and, in some cases, a standard typewriter. When operating word processing equipment, an incumbent is expected to maximize equipment capability in compiling correspondence, records, reports statistical information for various reports; setting up and maintaining automated records and filing systems, and in compiling information for management needs. A high degree of initiative and independent action is required to ensure the timely and accurate processing of the workflow. This position differs from Senior Information Systems Clerk in that the Office Assistant is required to have full knowledge of word processing equipment in order to produce a full range of correspondence and reports, in addition to providing general clerical office support to professional and/or administrative staff. Supervision may be exercised over a small number of subordinate personnel. Flexibility of hours may be required. Does related work as required.

Possession of a high school or equivalency diploma and three years of experience where a primary function of the position was performing general office/clerical work, two years of which must have included the use of computer applications to maintain automated records or produce correspondence, spreadsheets, forms, reports or other documents.
Substitutions
Satisfactory completion of 30 credits at a recognized college or university, or its equivalent in course hours from an approved institution or office software manufacturer (i.e. Microsoft) may be substituted on a year for year basis for one year of the general office/clerical experience and one year of the specialized experience using computer applications as described above. Completion of 6 credits in word processing coursework at a recognized college or university may be substituted for an additional one year of specialized experience using computer applications as described above. All coursework must be verified by official transcript.

Located in the Department of Community Mental Health - White Plains: Under general supervision, an incumbent in this class supervises and performs specialized clinical evaluations, case reviews, case management, professional review of para-professional activities and interdepartmental or inter-agency consultation and training. Incumbents work with a population with various mental illnesses frequently accompanied by alcohol and/or substance abuse problems. Work also involves professional consultation and training activities. Offsite visits to clients and referral agencies may be expected for the purposes of clinical assessment and/or program monitoring and evaluation. Required

Located in the Department of Emergency Services – Valhalla: Under direct supervision in the Department of Public Safety or Department of Emergency Services, incumbents of this class receive both professional certification(s) and on-the-job training in monitoring and operating two-way radio communication systems, call taking on a telecommunication systems and call entry and retrieval utilizing a computer aided dispatch systems as part of an information network designed to enable effective response to reported emergency situations. Good communication skills, the ability to multitask, and the ability to work well under pressure, are essential functions of this position. Incumbents learn to exercise good judgment in prioritizing calls and dispatching appropriate and assigned resources. This work-training program is for a period not to exceed one year. Subsequent to satisfactory completion of one year of service and having earned certifications appropriate for their department, incumbents are eligible for promotion to the full performance Emergency Communication Specialist I title without further examination. Incumbents may be assigned to one of multiple shifts, which operate on a 24-hour, 7-day basis. Supervision is not a responsibility of this position. Does related work as required.

High school or equivalency diploma, current CPR certification and either: a) two years of full time (35 hours a week) paid experience in a law enforcement agency, fire department or, emergency medical services agency which involved utilizing computers, radios and 911 telephone equipment for emergency response dispatching; or b) two years of active duty within a branch of the United States Military; or c) current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician; or d) completion of the NYS Office of Fire Prevention and Control (OFPC) Firefighter I training or equivalent; or e) completion of the Basic Peace Officers course approved by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services; f) satisfactory completion of sixty credits toward a degree in Emergency Management, Criminal Justice, Fire Science, Emergency Medical Services or closely related field.
Substitutions
Verifiable experience as an active volunteer member of a law enforcement agency, fire department, emergency medical services agency or emergency communication center which involved utilizing computers, radios and 911 telephone equipment to dispatch emergency response personnel and assets, may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to two years of the required experience in (a).
