Located in the Department of Laboratories and Research – Valhalla: Under direct supervision of professional laboratory personnel, this laboratory position performs chemical, physical, microscopic and instrumental analyses and quality assurance protocols in the fields of criminalistics and forensic science in the Department of Labs and Research. Incumbents prepare solutions and reagents, maintain equipment in accordance with established procedures, receive and return evidence from Law Enforcement agencies, maintain and review chains of custody for evidence within the Evidence Receiving section, and assists higher level, laboratory personnel with complex analyses and administrative/clerical work including assembly and distribution of Discovery related materials. Does related work as required.
Required
A High School or equivalency diploma and either: (a) sixteen (16) credits in one or more of the following courses: chemistry, biology, forensic science, toxicology, medical technology, criminal justice, criminology, or closely related field; or (b) two (2) years of laboratory experience and/or training in a recognized laboratory performing technical laboratory procedures.
