Located in the Department of Public Works and Transportation – White Plains: Under general supervision, an incumbent of this position located in either the Department of Public Works and Transportation or the Department of Environmental Facilities, directs and/or participates in construction projects undertaken by the County. Work requires independent decision making on engineering methods and problems, and in directing work on assigned projects. Incumbents assist in coordinating the activities of Public Works and Transportation with stakeholder departments and consultants, or serve as the project leader in the Department of Environmental Facilities in planning, coordinating and implementing projects with the County or consultant engineering and construction staff, municipal officials, civic groups etc. The Associate Engineer is a unit leader with subject matter expertise in an engineering specialty and is responsible for first line supervision of a unit comprised of professional and technical personnel; and/or is responsible for division-wide functions that are complex in nature and scope. Does related work as required.
Required
Possession of a current license to practice as a Professional Engineer In New York State, a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field and four years of experience in construction engineering, one year of which must have included supervision of subordinate engineering staff.
Special Requirements
Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of New York will be required at time of appointment and maintain same while in the title.
