Located in the District Attorney's Office – White Plains: Under supervision, conducts investigations of the highest sensitivity assisting the District Attorney in his or her responsibilities to the Governor, the County Executive, the Judiciary and the public. This class, due to the special nature of the assignments, works independently and reports directly to the District Attorney. Supervision is not a regular requirement but investigators may be assigned on a task basis. Does related work as required.
Required
High school or equivalency diploma and seven years of experience in law enforcement or investigative work, two of which must have been in criminal investigation.
Substitutions
Satisfactory completion of 30 credits toward a College Degree may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four years of the above experience, but not for the specialized experience.
Notes
(1) The number of years of experience required in the minimum qualifications is based upon the presumption of full-time employment. Part-time experience will be prorated based on a 35 hour workweek. (2) Verified and documented volunteer (unpaid) experience will only be credited when specifically allowed by the job description or examination announcement.
Special Notes
Education beyond the secondary level must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education.
Salary: $73,775 - $91,760
