Located in the Department of Environmental Facilities – Various Locations: Under general supervision, incumbents perform a wide variety of routine and semi-skilled laboring assignments, some with considerable independence, that are essential to the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants, delivery systems and sewers. Work may involve operating motorized vehicles and equipment. Work assignments are verbal, in writing, standard operating procedures, or are sometimes independently selected and carried out by the incumbent. Functioning as a lead worker may be a responsibility of the class. Must maintain a satisfactory rating on all OSHA, hazardous materials and safety training courses. Does related work as required.
Required
High school or equivalency diploma and one year experience in water and/or wastewater treatment system maintenance and/or repair.
Special Requirements
(1) Depending on assignment must possess and maintain a valid license to operate motor equipment in New York State, appropriate for the type of motor equipment operated. (2) Depending on work assignment, must meet standards of OSHA regulation 1910.134 Respiratory Protection, and will be required to meet Federal, State and local standards with respect to health and safety.
Notes
(1) The number of years of experience required in the minimum qualifications is based upon the presumption of full-time employment. Part-time experience will be prorated based on a 35 hour workweek. (2) Verified and documented volunteer (unpaid) experience will only be credited when specifically allowed by the job description or examination announcement.
Salary: $47,570 - $57,450
